Our Beliefs as a
Church Body
Mayfield Road is a Southern Baptist
Church. The Baptist Faith and
Message  contains a summation of basic Baptist
beliefs. Below is a brief summary of the major points of our faith.
The Bible
 The Bible is God's inspired and inerrant word. It has salvation for
its end, and is true in all it asserts. It is the standard by which
all human conducts, doctrines, and religious opinions should be tried.
God
God is the loving, holy, and
all-powerful Creator of all that is. He reveals Himself to us as
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each personification portrays personal
attributes, yet God is without division of nature, essence, or being.
Salvation
Salvation is by grace through
faith. Salvation is free, a gift God gives to those who trust in
Jesus Christ as Lord. There is salvation only in Jesus Christ.
Thus, we seek to make disciples of all people by baptizing them in the name
of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and teaching them to observe all that
Christ has commanded.
Jesus Christ
Jesus is the only way to
salvation and a true knowledge of God. He is God the Son: God in
human form. He was born of a virgin and crucified on the cross for
our sins. He rose bodily on the third day from the tomb, ascended to
the Father in glory, and has sent His Spirit to indwell us and minister to
us until the day He returns in glory.
Mayfield Road
Baptist Church exists to carry out God's will
by:
- encountering God through Spirit-led worship.
- leading others to commit to Jesus Christ as
their Lord and Savior.
- equipping believers through Biblical
teaching
- providing ministry opportunities.
- meeting the needs of one another and of our
neighbors.
- celebrating our unity in Christ through
fellowship.
