Judy Bridges, Children's Minister
Mayfield Road
Baptist Church is blessed to have Judy Bridges
as Children's Minister (and as Pastor's Wife). "Ms. Judy"
leads a fun and engaging children's ministry with a kind, loving spirit and
a passion and dedication to the Lord and presenting Him to the children of
the church and community. Her dedication for her calling knows no
rest and proves consistently the talent the Lord has given her.
When asked how she came
to her position as Children's Minister at Mayfield Road, Judy replies: "My
husband, Bobby, was called as Senior Pastor in June 1999. In the Fall
of 1999, I was asked to be volunteer Children's Minister Coordinator.
Then in 2000, I was called as Minister of Children." The church
had been seeking the Lord's choice for pastor for almost a year by August
of 1999 when Judy's husband, Bobby Bridges, was called. Judy came
with her husband, herself having received God's call to ministry with
children. God's providence was shown once again in His provision to Mayfield Road
of a pastor and minister of children in a husband and wife team.
From 1972 to 1977, Judy
served in the music ministry and as an administrative assistant at First
Baptist Church of Jackson, Mississippi. Beginning in 1980, she gave a
decade of service to Woods Chapel Baptist Church of Arlington, Texas, as an
assistant to the education ministry and preschool. She served as
church secretary to Spring Valley Baptist Church of Springville, Alabama,
from 1990 to 1995. She went on to serve as Director of After School
Program in Blount County School
in Maryville, Tennessee until 1999. From 1999 to
2000, Judy was a Music Teaching Assistant at Amos Elementary, Arlington, Texas.
Through it all, from 1978 to the present, she has served as a dedicated
pastor's wife, and she has dedicated thirty years to working with children.
W. P. Daniel High
School of New Albany, MS graduated Judy in 1968. She went on to
obtain a Bachelor of Religious Education from Mississippi
College in Clinton,
MS (go Choctaws!) in 1972, with a double minor in Music and
Secretarial Science. Her Master of Religious Education was earned
from Southwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Fort
Worth, TX in
1979.
Judy Bridges continues
to serve outside of Mayfield
Road as well. She serves as the Vacation
Bible School Conference Leader for the Tarrant Baptist Assosiation.
When asked about her
salvation experience and call to ministry, Judy says:

I
had the opportunity of being raised in a wonderful Christian home where
our entire family was very involved in every aspect of church life.
Through the teaching and examples of my parents, Sunday School teachers,
and church staff-- and the leading of the Holy Spirit-- I came to truly
know Jesus as my Lord and Savior at the age of fifteen.
I believe that my
parents began preparing me for a life of ministry through our family's
ministry involvement at church and in the community. During my sophomore
year at Mississippi
College, God spoke
to me in a very real way and said He had chosen me for a life of
Christian service.

Judy's favorite Bible
passage is Philippians 4, which is known best for its fourth through ninth
verses:

Rejoice
in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your
gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious
about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God,
which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds
in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is
right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-- if
anything is excellent or praiseworthy-- think about such things.
Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me--
put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Baptist Church is blessed to have been given
Judy Bridges as Minister of Children. Her passion for her calling
proves consistently the talent the Lord has given her.
Pastor Bobby counts
herself blessed by God in having been brought to Bobby, her husband, during
her time in seminary. The two were married in New Albany, Mississippi
on June 24, 1978. Their son, Jonathan Christian Bridges, was born on
October 5, 1981 in Fort Worth,
Texas. Currently, he is
a financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments in Fort
Worth, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion with a
minor in Finance from Dallas Baptist University,
Dallas, Texas.
